Perla helped my daughter complete an online Spanish course over summer. She was able to supplement and teach her the more complicated concepts which she could not teach herself. She was instrumental in helping her complete the class!

For the last month I have been studying Spanish literature with Perla. I found Perla on yelp and she had space to meet with me two days later. I felt helpless because I am studying for the Spanish Cset Subtest II. I have failed by one point three times. I have been working with Perla and she is absolutely brilliant!!! She is so amazing and has helped me tremendously! Perla can tutor high level Spanish and is very professional and kind! I recommend everyone to come here!

Perla has helped all my children with their Spanish since they were toddlers. She helped us all the way through the dual immersion program at Valley View Elementary, PMS, Carondelet and Amador High School. She is amazing. We couldn’t have done it without her. Perla is wonderful with all the children. She makes them feel special from day one. All while they are learning Spanish. We cannot say enough about her and the team! My children speak beautiful Spanish and scored well on tests at school with Perlas help.

Perla played an instrumental role in helping me fluently learn Spanish from beginning in the Dual Immersion program at Valley View Elementary School, to finishing Spanish IV with a 5 on the AP test in addition to finishing Spanish V with a 4 on the AP test. Too often in school especially when taking on a second language (which Spanish was for myself) a lot of the material can seem overwhelming when school’s expect you to fully grasp the material taught after one lesson on it. Having an outlet source who takes the time in small group sessions or one on one sessions to thoroughly break down whatever seems confusing and ensure you understand it, was a vital contributing aspect to the success I had in even the highest level Spanish courses. Additionally, what makes Perla a unique tutor is that she is very up to date and familiar with the coursework students have at every grade level for basically every elementary, middle, and high school in Pleasanton. Finding a tutor who simply fluently speaks Spanish themselves would not be able to offer much more beyond help with the language, however given that Perla has worked with countless students from each grade K-12 who all had varying teachers and coursework gives her an invaluable insight to the courses any future or current students need help in. Overall, she knows the material required for classes at any level, she is very thorough and organized, and above all cares for the success of each individual student.

Ms. Perla has helped Arun for the last three years. He started with Ms. Perla when he was at Spanish I and currently he is working with her on AP Spanish IV. She has been the best tutor overall. She works with kids at every level and adjusts to the individual learning style. She is very thorough and ensures all her students work at their maximum potential. With her help, Arun never had to worry about tests/exams at any point. She wants her students to succeed as much as their parents and is always willing to go an extra mile. My child worked with Ms. Perla from sophomore through senior year. Because of orchestra class, she wasn't able to take Spanish during freshman year, so before starting sophomore year, she skipped Spanish 1 and jumped straight into Spanish 2 with Ms. Perla's help. She then took Spanish 3 during junior year and successfully completed AP Spanish senior year. Ms. Perla is incredibly passionate and always treated my child with genuine care. I highly recommend her to any student looking for a Spanish tutor!

I highly recommend Perla's Spanish Tutoring. Mrs. Perla quickly identified the areas where my daughter needed support and I'm also grateful to Mrs. Karina for her dedicated instruction and encouragement. Perla has supported both my teenage children in learning Spanish . She is very personable and pleasant to be around. Her teaching skills are amazing and I can say that my children have benefited immensely from day one . We live in Fremont and did not mind driving to Pleasanton, because she is the best in the area .

I recently reached out to Ms Perla, based on Yelp reviews, to help my college-going daughter clear her Spanish 3 proficiency test. She needed urgent help to clear the language requirement to graduate and had 7-10 Days to prep. Ms Perla was so gracious, kind and said she would prepare a custom curriculum to tutor my daughter. She met with my daughter daily for an hour and gave her various materials to prepare. My daughter had not really touched Spanish in four years. Ms Perla was very encouraging, optimistic and has a can-do spirit. Her materials and tutoring were fantastic. My daughter enjoyed her time with Ms Perla and we are very thankful to her. She passed the proficiency test. I would highly recommend Ms Perla to anyone looking for help with Spanish.

My daughter started tutoring with Perla and Lupita 2x per week in Feb/Mar when her Spanish 2 grade was a D+. She was struggling and frustrated. Three months later, not only does she have a much better grasp of the material but also, she's enjoying the class. This is a great school. Perla and Ms Carolina really care about their students. My daughter urgently needed to take Spanish tutoring as she was close to getting an F. Unfortunately I came to know about it only a month before the end of semester. I searched around and found Perla's school. She was eager to help. We made a schedule for my daughter to take two classes a week. Her teacher was Ms Carolina. She did a wonderful job of coaching and preparing my daughter. After an intense period of studying for a month my daughter was able to get a passing grade - thanks to the efforts of Ms Carolina and Perla. Thank you so much. I started to be tutored by Perla at 6 years old and only stopped after I completed AP Spanish 5 in high school. I am now 22 and have a minor in Hispanic Studies from Pepperdine University and I owe it all to her. She is the kindest, most patient teacher you could ask for. Even in college, Perla would help me with any question I ever had. She would look over my essays all out of an abundance of love and kindness she inherently possesses. She is honestly like a second mom to me and has been such a blessing in my family's life. If your child needs help in Spanish this is the place you need to go! She is the most amazing woman and if I could give an infinite amount of stars I would.

My children have been attending this tutoring school for five years and the experience has been great! Both my kids had previously attended immersion schools and, thanks to Perla, they have been able to continue learning Spanish while attending English-only schools. Perla and her team are so kind and patient with their students. They work to the level of each child and help them feel successful by using a variety of activities to keep them engaged and improving their Spanish listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Perla is an excellent Spanish tutor with decades of experience teaching bilingual kids. She started helping my kids when they were in elementary school and still today works with my youngest in High School. Her expertise with AP testing is extensive, and she is recognized for helping all her students succeed. Perla works with each kid to address gaps in knowledge during her tutoring session, provides excellent resources for extra practice, and communicates with her students even during weekends when they need her help. One of the biggest challenges for bilingual kids is grammar. Perla has a very effective methodology for teaching grammar and supporting her students. In addition to her skills and qualifications, Perla is a sweetheart and treats these kids as a family. She is one of Pleasanton's treasures!

I came to Perla about a month ago because I need help passing my Spanish cset subtest II. Perla was absolutely fabulous. She is incredibly brilliant thorough and goes above and beyond. I found Perla on yelp and I literally hope everyone goes to her. I recommend her for tutoring, learning Spanish, and any state teachers exams!!!

OK, so this year, along with three other very challenging AP courses, my son decided (actually, insisted) that he wanted to take AP Spanish as he really likes the language and culture. And when the school year started, we found out that his Spanish teacher was actually still on maternity leave, and the school had no luck in finding qualified substitutes until she came back. Suffice to say, we worried that he would not be prepared for the AP Spanish test in time, as we don't speak a word of Spanish ourselves. So we went to Perla to see if she could help him prepare for the test. Perla was wonderful to work with. My son had lots of time conflicts because of his many after-school activities, but Perla worked with him through it all. She was kind and caring, and he enjoyed going to his lessons with her. She spoke Spanish constantly with him, so he got used to listening in Spanish. She also helped him speak, and gave him someone to practice with. All in all, she was heaven-sent! We are so thankful to her for helping him prepare for the test. He just took the AP test today and we're hopeful that he did well!

Thank you Perla for your wonderful Spanish tutoring classes! I came to Perla hoping to improve my intermediate level Spanish, especially working as a nurse. Perla equipped me with thorough grammar lessons through zoom, worksheets for me to complete as homework, and encouraged me to listen to radios and podcasts in Spanish to help improve my skills. She is kind, patient, understanding, and is always interested in how she can best support you. Perla's Spanish Tutoring Center is amazing! I decided to come back after going there in elementary school after feeling super unprepared for my AP Spanish 4 test. Both Lupita and Perla helped take away any feeling of unpreparedness I had as they gave me so many prep materials and practice! Their genuine care for me was obvious and I am glad to have them as my tutors and I will continue to be with them for AP Spanish 5!

Previous review (May 10, 2021) I started tutoring with Perla and Lupita about a month ago, and I was extremely worried that I didn't have enough time to prepare for the AP exam. However, with their immense amount of help guiding me through all the sections of the test, being willing to answer any question on the phone, and being patient and encouraging with my speaking, my worries for the exam began to fade. I am so thankful to have returned to Perla and Lupita for tutoring (after having Perla as my tutor when I was younger) and I really recommend getting tutored by them as well!

I got to know Perla two years ago when my son was finishing up middle school. He did not take Spanish in middle school and I was very worried he might struggle on Spanish in high school. I found Perla's tutoring center from the internet and was very impressed by Perla on the very first phone call. She picked up the phone immediately, which was so nice since I am frequently greeted by voice mails from most businesses. Perla started to teach my son the summer after his middle school to get a head start on Spanish. My son really enjoyed working with Perla. Unfortunately, my son had a terrible Spanish teacher at his high school during his 9th grade, so he pretty much completely relied on Perla to learn Spanish 1. Now he has finished Spanish 2 and received an A+ for the semester. Being a native Spanish speaker, Perla certainly is a master of the language. More importantly, Perla goes above and beyond to take care of her students. She would answer my son's questions outside of her tutoring sessions, arrange extra tutoring sessions when my son is struggling on certain topics, and put extra effort to prepare my son for his exams. In addition Perla inspired my son's interest in Spanish. He would watch Spanish language movies on Netflix in his free time and talk to me in Spanish from time to time to make fun of me since I know virtually nothing about Spanish. I highly recommend Perla for Spanish tutoring and you will enjoy her teaching tremendously.

We were lucky to get introduced to Perla and her team. Our son was taking Spanish starting 7th grade and never enjoyed it. By 9th grade he was tired of it and didn't believe he can improve his grades. Not only Perla, Lupita and Caroline helped him to get his A in Spanish 2, he is about to be done with Spanish 3 he took during the summer in online High School. He had a great experience!

We feel so lucky to have found Perla as my daughter, Ava, started AP Spanish at Foothill HS last year. Ava felt she was behind as she entered AP Spanish and had considered dropping the class. When we started with Perla, she had a small group for students who had her teacher, Mr. Ospina. Perla knew the teacher and was able to help Ava build confidence and practice verbal/written skills in Spanish to be successful in the class. As she prepared for the AP exam, Perla went above and beyond to make sure the group was prepared for the exam. Ava ended up with Covid the week she was due to take the test. Perla stayed connected and scheduled time with Ava prior to her make up exam. She passed the AP exam and plans continue on to take Spanish 5 her Senior year. I believe the time spent with Perla, has been invaluable. She is a wonderful Spanish tutor, kind and attentive to the needs of her students. I recommend her to anyone who needs a Spanish tutor! She is amazing!

Perla and Lupita are absolutely outstanding teachers. My son was taking the Spanish 2 and 3 courses at Granada, which are on a fast trimester system. He was having a difficult time keeping up and began going twice a week for an hour session. He went from stressed out to success. Both ladies are extremely kind and hardworking. His school book was brand new this year and these ladies went out of their way to make a complete program to supplement what he was learning in school. It was worth every penny to see him complete the course with such confidence. I have noticed that there are books, posters and games for younger students to learn the language as well. Great place to learn with wonderful teachers.

My son had Lupita as his tutor for Span 3 last year. I wish I had found them years before. Perla and Lupita are great and encouraging instructors. Lupita made herself available during the week to answer questions and check work over the phone. Because they are native Spanish speakers AND also understand the high school's curriculum, they were the ideal tutors. I was fortunate to find them after trying one of the larger tutoring centers in Pleasanton (their tutor obviously did not know Spanish well enough - my son found a couple mistakes the tutor made and I would see her looking up answers in the back of the text book!). My son was in the small group tutoring which was just 2 kids and Lupita. I highly recommend them!

Perla's Spanish Tutoring has been a kept secret for many many years. People didn't want to share her number for fear of not getting in when they needed their children in themselves! Yes, this happened to me so I had to figure out on my own how to get my child to be a part of this "secret" society that so many parents didn't want to share... since then, Perla has increased her staff of highly trained individuals to help open more availability to our students that would like to be on top of and increase their knowledge beyond the school system. So, no need parents to not share this wonderful gem! She's got plenty of support! Perla has been teaching and tutoring for about 20 years in Pleasanton & her own children have gone through the Pleasanton system. You can not do better by having your child with her or her staff. You can expect proper help, learning and conversation for your student! She is the warmest, loving, caring, intelligent individual you want your child with... she tutors ALL ages and levels. I can't say enough good positive things about her and her business. My child has been going since 2nd grade and is at the high school level III now. If you need a tutor or want your child to get better than what the schools offer... you can not go wrong with Perla's Spanish Tutoring in Pleasanton!

Previous review (Aug 12, 2018) Perla has created a tutoring center that is by far the BEST you will ever find. She is a gracious instructor who adores her students and treats them with respect. Our child has been working with Perla since 2011 when she was tutoring in her home but after so many years her popularity grew and she needed to open a business in town. The students that need help with the Spanish language, wish to get ahead, become more conversational, or are AP students really should come sit with Perla or her partner Lupita and see for themselves what a true jewel their help can provide you and or your student. The cost is higher for individual tutoring vs group instruction but that is expected. You get more than what you pay for with this duo team! When was the last time you have heard someone say that lately?!?!!

My experience as part of the teaching team at Perla Spanish Tutoring Center during my time in the United States was simply unforgettable. From the very first day, I was welcomed with open arms and made to feel at home. I quickly realized that this center is much more than a place to learn Spanish--it is a true intercultural family.

My daughter attended tutoring classes during her 2nd semester of Spanish II for individual sessions with Mrs. Karina and it was the best decision we made! Mrs. Karina and Perla helped with homework checks even outside of her weekly classes and also helped with getting her caught up on core concepts from the 1st semester that she needed extra help with. She went from having a D, to ending the 2nd semester with a B. I would definitely recommend the tutoring center for those who need extra attention in Spanish class!

I had one week to prepare for a Spanish proficiency exam for my college graduation requirements. The last time I took Spanish was 5 years ago in high school. Perla helped me improve my Spanish speaking, listening, grammar, and comprehension skills for that week for my exam. With some hard work, in just 10 days I was much better at responding to complex prompts in Spanish and understanding different types of audios and conversations. I passed the exam . Perla is very caring, resourceful, dedicated, and funny! She has various resources and a great way of teaching that makes it a comfortable and productive space to learn the language. I would highly recommend her for any Spanish tutoring needs!

Our son is part of the DLI program at Valley View and Perla has been such a big part of his success in the program. They have consistently worked with him since 2nd grade (now in 5th) and they are the best at providing feedback at how well he has progressed in Spanish through the years. When there were concerns regarding his handwriting, they approached me before the school did to ensure proper interventions were done to get him back on track. They only converse with him in Spanish and help with his homework and writing assignments. My son actually looks forward to his time with Karina and Perla - he loves the small group tutoring and games. If there are issues with scheduling they are very proactive with finding another time to fit you in. I feel that they genuinely care about my son's progress in school and his well being.

We were lucky our daughter was accepted into Valley View's Dual Immersion Program over Kindergarten Spring Break. But, she didn't know a word of Spanish! So I immediately researched and found Perla... Perla took her in (and my son who was only 3) and tutored them all the way through AP Spanish 5. She is dedicated to their success and creates a welcoming, productive, and fun environment that the kids enjoy while they learn!

My high schooler owes his successful year in Spanish to the tutoring received at Perla. After attending a couple of sessions, even he recognized the confidence he was gaining. By year end, he decided to take AP Spanish next year which is something he most certainly would not have chosen had he not been going to Perla. I also appreciated that his Spanish tutor communicated with his high school teacher so she was well aware of when he had upcoming tests and what material was being covered.
